Burma

A rice giving ceremony at Shwe Dagon Pagoda

This was one of many Nat spirit houses I saw in a teak forest. Its purpose was to scare people who might be tempted to cut the trees down

Mandalay

At the water's edge in Mandalay, kids with paint cans scurry around picking brown sugar, which has fallen out of the large oil cans, out of the sand. This kid came and stood by me as I was taking pictures. I took a picture of him and showed him his image. He was amused. A little girl came over to see what he was up to and accidentally kicked over his can of now dissolved sugar. Distressed, they both scraped it up and put it back in his filthy can.
